Re: [MBZ] NOT CHEAP 300TD WAS RE: 300td pretty cheap
I agree, I think its euro also. I noticed a few other differences besides the hubcaps: Curved euro trailer hitch, no nets on seat backs, 2 piece bumper rubber, no wood in shifter console, white dipstick, no front fan which probably means no A/C (optional in europe). The antenna is either manual or not controlled by aftermarket radio. Sure wish I had those wheels and hubcaps! Color matches by 85TD perfectly. Sunvisors also look slightly different like my 240Ds, which has no lighted mirrors. Anybody spot any other differences? (bumper differences beside the rubber). Euros could be non turbo with manual transmission but not USA models. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-300-Series-Base-Wagon-4-Door-300td-1983-w-123-mercedes-300-td-turbo-diesel-wagon-300-d-/191500127771?forcerrptr=truehash=item2c964c0e1bitem=191500127771pt=US_Cars_Trucks ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. Something unusual about that 300TD. It has manual windows, no SLS resivor, no tach, 240D type climate control, cloth seats. This completely different from my 85 300TD. Would this be a euro model? I did think euro had turbos. Wish mine had that climate control like on my 240D. [MBZ] first car? if it qualifies as a car
My first car was a hand me down from Germany. A 58 BMW Isetta 300cc, air cooled, single cylinder, 13HP, 4 speed in the left wall, reversed 4 speed shift, 1 front door, non synchro first gear, shared generator/starter, no gauges (other than speedo), pavement ripping max 55mph, and had a good working heater. 1st time I saw one is when we landed in Rhein Main, because the civillian air port was closed due to extreme fog. A 3 wheel Isetta came out on the flight path through the fog, front door opened, human looking alien said “follow me earthling” and the plane (TWA Connie) obediently followed the tiny alien to a secured military hangar to unload into busses. (area 51?) Everybody was talking about the weird creature with bug eyes. We all thought we had landed in some weird Rod Sterling “Twilight scene. Latter, we brought that 59 bug eyed Isetta back to USA. I learned to drive with that lefty backwards (reversed shift “H” pattern). Isetta is the car that saved BMW from bankruptcy in the mid to late 50s. The 300cc engine was a bmw motorcycle engine. No big V8s to race, just lawn mowers and go karts to pick on! Beat my Lambretta scooter once with the Isetta. Mike G now have its big brother, 2 wheeled vintage bmw r100rt twin air cooled cylinders. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post.
