That should work. Main point is to get the zinc gear to drive the rest of them. Fails at high mileage because there is more pressure on the gear when all the digits have to move. Easy enough to pull the shaft back enough to get the loctite into the hole, then push it in and spin it to spread

Typically the zinc gear at the right end (miles or tenths) that drives the odometer has started slipping. The proper fix is a new gear -- pull the driving shaft to the left without letting any of the other wheels move, remove old gear and press the shaft into the new one at the correct depth.
