[MBZ] 2007 E350 no start
Hi everyone, long time no see. A friend has a 2007 E350 wagon M272 with 140k miles that won't fire, it just cranks and cranks. I pulled codes and it shows P0011 cam timing, bank 1 position A (intake); P0271 Powertain, which google says is associated with the first code; and P0521 Oil pressure switch. I checked the cam solenoid magnet and it had the common failure mode of oil leaking through the connector at the top, so I installed a new one from the dealer this morning. Still no start. Anyone familiar with these engines? I keep reading about balance shaft problems, but I'm not sure if that will cause a no start like this. The P0521 looks like it may actually be a stuck flap in the intake manifold, but I'm not seeing any association with a no start. This is hard without a manual or proper diagnostic equipment! Any ideas? I used to have a cheap Wal Mart iron, and it was a cheap Wal Mart iron and ironing clothes was a hassle. Then Misheil and I got a German-made Rowenta as a wedding gift and it is hard to describe how nice an iron can actually be. We have an earlier version of this model and if it isn't the S-Class of irons, I don't know what is. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FEBPG3G/ Tom On Jun 19, 2016 8:35 AM, "Craig via Mercedes"wrote: > Shirley's 30 year old clothes iron broke recently, so we need to replace > it. > > In the vast experience of this list, is there one to be preferred? Re: [MBZ] '06 E320CDI
Not direct comparisons, but for what it's worth my creampuff E320 Bluetec with 77k miles was worth $17k in January per my insurance company and my research validated that. The not-quite-as-nice '09 Bluetec that replaced it I purchased in Texas in January for with 78k for $16,500. State Farm then valued it for $18,950 in Missouri in March. If only the car had a title I could get a check for it. Happy shopping. The W211 cars are really nice and don't be afraid of the V6 - it is a good mill and acompanied by a number of updates and the excellent 7-speed transmission. I have a few surplus maintenance items and parts for these cars if you end up with one, since Kaleb seems to have lost interest. Tom On May 2, 2016 8:09 AM, "Kaleb C. Gas model values are way down as well, if not as badly as the diesels. Well, the repair estimate just by walking around the car and using "used, reconditioned, or aftermarket" parts came to $14,500, so I guess it is worse than it looks. Apparently an offset crash like that is particularly difficult to straighten out. On the upside, I settled with the insurance company on Friday after more contretemps than should be necessary, and purchased a one-owner 2009 Bluetec with the same mileage for less than I got for my 2007. [MBZ] Wrecked E320
So the E320 Bluetec is a probable total after some jerk ran a stop sign on Saturday. I'm a little sore but okay. The adjuster had asked if I'd like to retain the car, and I'm thinking about it since I'd like to replace it with the same model, and especially since two weeks ago I spent over $1000 on tires, a steering angle sensor, and maintenence. Questions for those who have done this sort of thing: I am thinking I could strip most of the trim, black boxes, and accessories from the car over a weekend and eBay it over the next few months for easy money - what am I missing? Pull the engine complete, or pull injectors, turbo, intake, etc and list piecemeal? Not sure I have room to pull an engine in the garage. And finally, am I delusional or is this an economically viable weekend(s) activity? I do have plenty of room in the basement to store everything. The air filter arrangement is a little goofy, though. The V6 also comes with normal brakes and the 7 speed transmission, and the general updates that came with the facelift in '07, but still has 16 wheels. Re: [MBZ] speed ratings of tires
Tom Hargrave wrote: Kaleb, Speed rating is about a lot more then speed. Speed rating also affects how the tires handle. H rated tires have much stiffer sidewalls than S rated tires and since the tires are an active part of a car's suspension, downgrading from H to S rating, particularly the front tires, will have a negative impact on how the car handles. Downgrading also greatly reduces front tire tread life because the more flexible sidewalls allow more tread to be scuffed off in turns. What he said. A 140 is a pretty hefty car and flimsy tires do it no favors at all. I just put Bridgestone Turanzas on my S420 and they're about the perfect tire for the car. Much nicer than the Michelins they replaced, or the Contis or no-name POS tires on other 140s I've driven. Expensive, but they have a 70k mile treadlife warranty which I expect to collect on (these cars chew up tires pretty quickly), as long as I go back to Firestone every 6,000 miles so they can rotate them and steal my metal valve stem caps (again). You just push a couple of buttons to enter diagnostic mode, and it tells you the values for every sensor, module, and whatnot in the system. All seven (or more) temperature sensor values, refrigerant pressure, blower motor voltage, and so on. Then the manual tells you where everything is, what the values should be, and how to test it, so diagnosis is just a matter of knowing how to use a multimeter. This compared with chasing vacuum leaks all over creation. The only downside is that you can't fix a 140 with a golf tee. And later 140s have a much simpler ACC interface. Mitch Haley wrote: I thought the WDB VINs were for Westgermany, Daimler Benz, so W from SA puzzles me too. Now that Deutchland has been reunited and West Germany is no more, what do the German cars start with, a D? Does the W now mean South Africa? W still means Germany/West Germany. The next two are a manufacturer's code; DB = Daimler Benz. I don't know if OstGermany joined the VIN standardization club, but our Trabant starts with E, but it is a '75. South Africa should start with A. Maybe they're only assembling knocked-down kits there, with enough work done in Germany to warrant a W VIN? The Monroney on the new C I looked at last week said Final Assembly was in East London, ZA with something like 80+% of the parts content coming from Germany. Tom When I was young, all this made sense. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
