Re: [MBZ] Are Exide batteries any good?

2015-09-16 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
If thats a good battery (IIRC Exide are Johnson Controls so as good as
anything) thats an excellent price. I paid $125 2 years ago for the Group 47 in
my Jetta. That was at my local Car Quest and was $25-$50 less than Autozone and
Advance.

Not really relevant to me this week. I have a bad battery in the 4matic but I'm
just going to use the 2003 Johnson/Autozone from the 300SD, but is this a good
deal?

Mitch,

That looks like a great price. I think Wal-Mart sells a group 49 for about
$125.

I like the Sears Diehard. Even though two of them went south on me within
2 years, they were easy to exchange under warranty.

Thus the name Die EASY Those are crappy batteries. They were crappy
batteries and died easily 40 years ago. No snears anywhere around to
replace the dead ones either.

Exide should be fine. There is a group 93(?) that is interchangeable
with the same CCA, but they are cheaper. Advanced auto website will
give you both choices. So you can find the group number that way.

For a group 49, that is a good price. the 93 should be about $20 cheaper.

Been around since 1888, so they must have SOMETHING on the ball.
