Apple has had trouble with thermistors over the years, the early G5s either wound up like jets or wouldn't spin the fans and overheated. They replaced lots under warranty... Curt Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Mon, Jun 27, 2016 at 9:27 PM, clay via Mercedes

Compressed air and a long-handle, bent-head board-hair brush. It had been cleaned by the seller as well, so I got no dust with my ministrations. The tattle tale app I had is not supported and I am not finding one that will tell me temps inside. The tower is like a heater under my desk. clay

When we put the 32GB in my brother's 1,1 the fans pegged. Nasty. We pulled half of it out and it settled down. These RAM sticks were from an HP or something, definitely not the beefy heat sink jobs that were in there before. (All gone, now, due to the fire.)

It should be as quiet as the MP 1,1. Did you check the heat sinks for cleanliness when you had it open? I run 32GB of RAM in my MP 3,1 and its standard server RAM without the giant heat sinks. Very little, if any, fan noise. Dan Sent from my iPad > On Jun 24, 2016, at 3:01 PM, clay via

The new to me MP has some serious fan issues. The 1,1 was rather quiet, with only minimal fan noise when things got hot and heavy (summer, much processor/GPU usage). The 3,1 has a constant high fan speed that make is seem like the Mirror Door model. Would this be due to the 32Gb of HP dimms
