Zoltan Finks wrote: Nobody seems to carry it - any tips? If your Saab is new enough to use GM DexCool, you can stick with that, or convert to MbzCool. (kind of like the R12/R134 conversion, I would not be switching back and forth, pick one and stick with it). I was at A-Zone yesterday, and they did not, once again, have shelf space for G-05. They dropped it a couple of years ago, picked it back up last winter, and it looks like they dropped it again. The store brand was 8.99 a gallon straight, or 7.99 for premix. I'm glad I looked in the store before pouring my last gallon of G-05 into the Ford. I'll be looking around for it locally, perhaps I should have sourced a couple gallons from Rusty last month when I bought some heavy suspension stuff. I hate to have stuff UPS'd to me that's only worth a dollar a pound. Mitch.

Brian, If my memory is working correctly, I think that Marshall Booth has mentioned that Peak Antifreeze has the proper Ph and can be used in our cars... I looked at the website... http://www.peakantifreeze.com/But could not find any mention of the product's Ph... Other far wiser listers may know more. Take care, Chuck PS... C'mon out and enjoy the climate. Just wonderin'... Are you an MBCA member? On Aug 12, 2006, at 4:05 PM, Zoltan Finks wrote: Okay, another classic: Where can I find Zerex G05 or is it Zerex GO5? There are rust-colored stains on my light blue paint. I've tried several cleaners and such and the stains don't want to budge much. I'm wondering if this is acutally rust somehow being caused by the droppings or if the color is coincidental. Would love to know how to get this stuff off my paint so I can say lesson learned and place a cover over the thing from now forward. Brian 83 240D 84 Saab 900

Re: [MBZ] Zerex G05
Mitch, So am I correct in assuming that since G-05 is good enough for my Mercedes, it also fulfills the requirements of my Saab? Bear with my lack of knowledge on this, but all I know is that my Saab requires the red stuff - or - shoot - is it the orange stuff? All I know is that the green stuff isn't good enough. How new is new enough to use GM DexCool? Brian 83 240D 84 Saab 900 On 8/12/06, Mitch Haley [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Zoltan Finks wrote: Nobody seems to carry it - any tips? How new is new enough to use GM DexCool? I just assumed the red stuff in question was dexcool. It does form a protective film on coolant passages, which G-05 won't replenish, but eventually will replace. What I don't like is that it's reputed to turn to glop if you let it run low with part coolant/part air in the system. Does the owner's manual ask for dexcool, or give a spec # that you can find on a dexcool bottle? 20 years ago, Saab just used green stuff, and I quit working for the Saab indy (the last time) in 1988. Never saw inside a Saab newer than 1985 or so. If it's a special Saab coolant I'd be inclined to keep using it. Toyota had a very good long life coolant (red) at least as far back as '93, and I convinced a friend to keep it in his '93 Corolla when he finally replaced the factory fill last year. Mitch
