they're problematic. I had one MB mechanic tell me he had done one  rear
coupe regulator & never again. another experienced MB mechanic he would
never ever do one
 I keep tape over rear window switches to avoid problems.  sadly loses the
openness of no B pillar with all windows down.

Yeah, he don’t know what he got. Doesn’t the flashing glow plug light signify 
some kind of a malfunction in the glow plug circuit? I can’t remember. 
I suppose if someone wanted a coupe real badly that might be one to pursue.

Hard to tell whether it has burlwood (desirable) or zebrano (common) dash
wood.  It's probably a non turbo.  Nice yellow outside but boring
noncomplimentary interior color.

Well too far for me. I have a good OM617 and transmission in a somewhat
rusty chassis. Maybe this spring I'll repair the rust. Been wanting to
learn how to properly weld.

might still be interested. By which time I will offer him $800. Hard to justify 
$1500 for a non turbo with the engine out when I paid $2k for a 85 turbo over

couple days, you could probably get at least $3-4K for it if not more. The

These sorts of cars I put back together fairly quickly and they are stored 
indoors rather than the back 40. Even if the engine turned out to be bad I 
could probably come up with one around here.

I look at those every few days. The closed auctions so far seem to have gone 
pretty high on the Benzes, no particular bargains but the cars seem in good 
shape . The cars don’t seem to be quite as pretentious as BaT, more like decent 
runners.

Yeah I have some extras of those I pulled from junkyard cars and the 420 SEL I 
knackered and maybe a new one somewhere in the stash. I don’t recall it being 
very much $. Is the CD version any different from the sedans?  I think the 
driver side in this CD I have is broken too, was gonna pull one out of the 
rusty TD which I replaced at some point so it is “new”. The SEC is broken too, 
i threw the SEL pull in there to replace at some point.

More specifically:

1.) Get a small flat bladed screwdriver.  Pull out on the handle, and near the 
hinge of the handle use the screwdriver to pry the black plastic cover out of 
the frame.  It has a little tab that hold the front edge of it in place, the 
back side of it (the side closest to the handle hinge) is held in with pressure.

2.) With the plastic cover removed, you’ll see a phillips head screw in the 
middle of the frame.  Remove it.

3.) Pull out on the frame and handle and it will come loose from the door card. 
 It will have a metal rod attached to the back of the handle. Pul the rod out 
of the hole in the handle and the handle will now be free.  Reverse the 
procedure to install the new handle.

I can recall doing this on pretty much every new W123 and W126 when I go it, 
since the driver’s door release handles were always worn out and sloppy.

Might I ask what a new door handle costs these days?  Just curious...

If it is similar to a regular 123, there is one screw that holds it in.  
If it has a plastic "pocket" under the latch, you need a sharp stick, or 
a small screwdriver, etc to pull that out from its catches.  Then you

Yesterday I changed engine oil / filter on the White Whale, noticed that
the car is WAY overdue for transmission fluid / filter change.  I really
should use that maintenance tracker tool that Dan likes.

Wally world had no Mobil Delvac oil at all, so I got the Chevron Delo 400
SDE, 15w-40.  The Delo is marked as meeting MB 228.31 or maybe .51.

I was kinda surprised that reman calipers are now $55-63, last ones I
bought were maybe like $40.  Maybe the chinee are gouging us to get back at
the Trumpinator.

I'll get some fluides for the tranny and engine and brake system and flush
all that out, get this baby on the road then maybe try to sell it unless I
am enjoying it.

I've never had a side cut tumbler apart but the older ones are simplicity. 
Remove, degunkify, make sure your keys move all the pins adequately, reinstall 
and lube.

Naughty pins that are full of gunk and a key that has lopsided wear?  I need to 
pull my tumbler out of Allen and take it to a locksmith to clean and rebuild

I hadta think about this for a second. For any given pin only one side of the 
key is actuating at any moment but the pins alternate so you do need both sides 
of the key...
