HOLY SNOT! My VW guy says just under $1500 to put a used trans into my Golf along with a new clutch and flywheel. I didn't think that was so bad, labor is only $450. Of course I jest... except that I did uprate the blower motor fuse in my first 300TD out of sheeer frustration - from 15A to 25A. The higher amp fuse never blew after that and I never melted any (important) wires either. ;).
