That doesn't sound good. Don't forget that you CAN drive it without a
working clutch (as long as it fails in the engaged position) - so don't feel
stranded, when you're not.

The part I don't understand about your MC issues is that there isn't a
bleed port on the MC. The system bleeds entirely through the slave,
which is why you must pressure bleed it.
The system, by the book, bleeds entirely through the MC, back
to the reservoir. You use the lower bleed screw to h

I will be interested to see what parts work.
I know that the only master that I could use was the dealer
ded the 2
different clutch MCs with just one and 2 different rods depending on which car
you have.

I have mixed
the pedal. Thats why I'd assumed the rod I
have is too long, if it were shorter it seems to me the action part of the
pedal would move down into the normal range.

We did master cylinder 240D in Fall '09 - it was a pain since the

The pedal "worked" fine with a short-rod piston an a long rod -
but would not bleed and it probably would not work long term
'cause no fluid could
ow it? It'd be MUCH easier to
make a short rod correctly the first time (its a PITA getting it in there) if I
had one to match it up to.

the other. A cam action dealie fits in the oversized eye to allow for minor
adjustment to allow the MC to bleed correctly.

So my clutch rod plea just took a new turn. Rusty reports 123 290 07 39 which
is the '78 clutch rod is $215 (thats the Rusty price, $300 is their price!). So
I'm definitely needing either a used replacement or I need to make mine work...
Strange that the newer car item is 1/20th the price.
