True that. My doctors in small practices either retired (like my old
dermatologist) or joined a big operation (my new dermatologist / Duke Med).

Senator McCain did many things in his life but I will only remember one vote.

Thank obamacare for that, basically tilted the playing field to favor big
hospitals, big insurance, big pharma.  Massive sellout of our doctors and
nurses, pretty much eliminated the ability to run a private practice.  Sadly
one bitter senator managed to "save" obamacare, pissed that he lost the
presidential primary to an upstart.

For some reason we as a society have decided it makes sense to pay the bulk of
our health care workers peanuts. We value the CEO way more than the people who
actually do any work. I'm not really sure what a hospital CEO does beside

Droplets, spit, snot -- yes a mask will obviously contain that.

Aerosolized virus particles, probably not. It would be like trying to
contain mosquitoes with chicken wire. If that turns out to be how the
virus spreads, a typical "cloth mask" will be basically useless.

It's my guess that in the end we'll conclude that basic hygiene (washing
hands, not picking your nose, covering your coughs, staying home if
you're sick) will be about the best we can do. A large number of people
are bad at this. I suspect a large number of nursing home workers are
shockingly bad at this.

I have a question:

What is the particle size that contain the virus as expelled from humans when
they talk, breathe, sing, sneeze, or cough? Without knowing that critical fact,
we have no idea how effective masks are.
