Whatever happened to Burger King? It was as popular as McD in Florida back in
the 1960's-70s.
It's Whopper, a huge burger, was a favorite of the high school boys IIRC.

YES!

It's been a while since I have eaten at Mickey D's. I will sometimes eat at one
(or Wendy's) if I am imprisoned at an airport and there is nothing else that
seems cheap and reliable...but the indies!!

When we lived on Lon Gisland there was an indy called All American a town or 2
over that had excellent burgers, and fries that we could watch being made from
actual potatoes! It apparently was the dream of every kid in town to work
there. It was always jammed. It was the big social scene for the local kids. I
do not recall any interior seating, but the food was worth it.

to see what it was all about. Baptized with a Big Mac. The next time, I tried
the Quarter Pounder with Cheez. Neither could compare to the small town indy

My first memory of McD's is from high school. The burgers were far better
than most of the cafeteria food, which cost $0.35. We would get a bunch of
us together, and ride in the school bus that a friend drove to McD's where
we could buy two burgers for $0.31. Better tasting food for less money. The
more affluent of us would splurge for fries and a drink. The rest of us
waited till we got back to school for water.

Yes, the old days. I grew up the Huntington area of southern WV. The first
McD anywhere around was there. You walked up to the outside window to order.
There was no where to sit so you ate in your car. The restrooms were on the
outside. And they did have two arches, but I like to joke that I've eaten
there since only one arch. It was a great place to take a date after a movie.
Hamburger, fries, and a soft drink were very affordable for a high school kid.

Anyway, McD been good to me. I hope each of you have a fond memory of
somewhere you ate when young.

I remember when the sign first said one million sold, then many years
later, a billion. I think the first McD sign I saw in 1961 may have
said 250,000 sold. I remember they changed it several times before it
hit a million.

I like the McD's breakfast McMuffin things, lots of fat and protein,
salty. Not something to eat often, but I find them non-offensive and
satisfying. Thow in coffee and hashbrown, about $5 or $6 total, away you
go.

Just about everything else on their menu disagrees with my gut, expect once
I had a salad in a cup and that was not too bad.
