A hammer (to reverse the deformation) will be easier than the file. IIRC, the secret to putting the battery in there is to slip the rubber molding off of the lip in that area. Gives you an extra fraction of an inch of clearance, which is pretty helpful. Then push the molding back on. -- Jim ___

It should fit. Sometimes you need to tip the side away from the clamps in first, then let it settle towards the clamp side. The "hook" on the side opposite the clamps sometimes prevents the battery from just sitting in the tray unless you tip the battery into place. Fred Moir via Mercede
