Re: [MBZ] Windshield can't be wiped?
Could well be wax or some similar contaminant from the road. I'd try scrubbing with Bon Ami. Don't use similar cleansers like Ajax---Bon Ami is only very mildly abrasive and won't scratch, others are harsher. I believe BMW officially recommended it at one point in a service bulletin for cleaning stubborn glass. If that doesn't work, try lacquer thinner---but be VERY careful not to get any on paint, rubber, or anything else besides the glass! It is an effective solvent of practically anything petroleum-based, which whatever's on your windshield probably is. I had a similar problem with my 240D after it sat at my Indy's for a couple days last fall. It had a coating of maple leaves on it while it sat and something about those leaves... Re: [MBZ] Windshield can't be wiped?
Kevin If tension is ok in wiper blade arms, clean windshield real well with a sponge and warm dish soap water. Use elbow grease. Rinse with warm water. Repeat. Windex using a clean rag may work too. Get a new set of Bosch blades or clean the tips of your old ones with clean soapy water. Then take a clean rag and spray 303 Aerospace protector on it and run the rage up and down the tip of the wiper blades. I have Bosch blades which are aproaching three years and 80K miles which are still holding up. Hope this helps.
