Well, if the nose is longer I'd _expect_ more welds.

That should be "more welds". Not sure where I got rivets...

I always thought the "more rivets" claim was BS, as there was nothing to
support it.
If there was a model series I know the least about it's the W114/115. I've had
one of them, a W114 1970 250C, which had the same M130 engine my 1970 250S had
with the wonderful Zenith carbs that no one other

That might make sense as the early 230s were 6 cyl vergassers (I don't
know if it was M180 or M130) and some of the 230 vergassers were 4 cyl.
I completely skipped the 114/5 generation other than the one rustbucket
115 300D I scrapped.

Digits 1-3 are the type (110,111,112,113,114,115,116,123,124,126 etc.)
Digits 4-6 are the subtype IE: 123.123 denotes a 240D in a 123.

I think the pre 74 114 might have had a longer hood but I think 74 and after is
the same.

To add to the confusion, the 220D W115 had the short front end. They curved
the radiator support, and angles the front of the fenders forward along
with lengthening the hood and moving the grill forward for the OM617 in the
'74-'75 300D W115. I had both at the same time once - it was easy to see
I always thought the only difference was the length of
hood/fenders/front of body subframe (in front of firewall) to
accommodate short or long engines. Kaleb's explanation makes sense.
The R/E myth does not. IF there was such a thing as a taxi version, it
would be denoted in digits 4-6 of
