worst fear is I'd break something getting it apart, and then have to
wait a week or two to get the parts to get it back together.
And that's where Shoe Goo comes in!

Did I mention I'd also have to make sure my wife didn't see the work
in progress? She'd have a major fit and be convinced I'd ruined the
car. Of course, she doesn't have to drive it all summer either. If she
did, she'd probably agree it's ruined now!

Best of both: a $500 beater MB. Or are those all gone now?
I've bought six in that territory, all diesels. [EMAIL PROTECTED], $350,
$400,

It's your showroom perfect car. To them it's just another 20 year old heap

What about those two part sealants that supposedly epoxy

John Keilly, of Keilly's Automotive, Bradenton, FL has been using the

I've tried the Cliplight Super Seal Pro. Works OK for small pinholes.
Unfortunately, given enough time, the seams in the MB evaporator will
fail, causing long ugly cracks. There's no sealant I know of that will
work for long. Kinda like trying to stop a windshied crack from
running all the way
I though that was the one that was blood, sweat and tears.

Foo, just plan on a long weekend of work and swap that puppy out.
Change all the servos too -- and you will have a new AC system!
I have another car (91 350SDL) and PLENTY of time. I'm leaning strongly
toward doing the swap myself.

Now THAT is a great tip!
This list never ceases to amaze me.
It's a very long job, but there are only a couple places where you
can do serious damage -- the bar that holds the switches above the

It's quite fiddly, but nothing that requires an advanced degree. Be careful
not to break the switch bar above the pushbutton unit, and don't pinch the
wires

Good point. Didn't Wilton recently finish a beautiful grandfather clock?
As long as he can hold the shakes at bay, it might be feasible. If not,
K'leb will give him $500 for the pieces.

For most of my adult life, I wouldn't have hesitated an instant to tackle
