Does it have a block heater? if so, plug it in for a hour or two,
then crank it with no glow. It SHOULD start. Did you bleed the air
out of the injector lines? If you crack a line at the injector, so
you get fuel spurts?
IF the GP wires short together it probably sets up some kind of error

At least 12 gauge, but it's probably overkill to go with 10 gauge (which
might not even fit in the terminals

Actually when i checked it the resistance was just fine, I did not
see anything out of the ordinary there. The only other wires in
the strand are the 2 that go to the sensor in the head. Maybe its
shorting out there.

bottom line I am going to have to do something with that harness.
If I rebuild it myself, what guage wire should I use?

The relay senses differential current in the wires, and if
it doesn't like what it sees it does the 'your glow plugs
suck' thing with the GP light. If they're all shorted
together the relay is not going to like that.

If the voltage drops way down when the relay engages, the battery
won't produce current. It if cranks, this likely is not a problem
(way more juice needed to spin the engine than run the GP).
You can pop the cover off the connector and solder new wires to the
pins for the glow plugs, this

well I think the problem is the gp wiring harness is bad. On the
relay end the insulation has fallen off all the wires so its like
one big mass of wires going to the plugs instead of 6 individual
plugs. This harness also houses 2 wires that go to a sensor but
it appears to be in a separate wr

Good idea to be sure. A set of six plugs, no doubt, is expensive.

Yes, they run on 12 V just like everything else.

Im going to try the manual route for now just to see if I can get

the main difference is the newer has the afterglow function.

I resumed working buttoning up the engine install in the 140
today. It look quite a while to hunt for some of the bolts but I
finally found them and everything under the car is hooked back
up. All I like is hooking exhaust back up, installed fuel return
lines, hooking up coolant hoses and fig
