I'm too lazy to re-type the whole thing.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Mon, 4 Nov 2002 13:26:56 -0500 Gary wrote: > Good afternoon to all. I order part number "FGK2" from Rusty's web site. That got me glow plugs that are the physical size of the series ones, but are electrically meant for parallel. > I am looking for comments on the technical difficulty > involved (although I don't think I will have any problems) and how > much hassle it is to start digging the old style relay/timer, or what > ever it is, out to put the new one in. I just skipped most of the old stuff. I added a push-button switch on the dash (near the idle speed adjust knob) that activates a large relay that I mounted to the firewall near the fuse. I happen to have a number of continuous-duty relays that look like the old Ford starter solonoids. I used the original fuse holder, provided my own wire to the battery and my own wires to the glowplugs. I wired the switch to an accessory fuse so the plugs won't glow with the key off. This means that I no longer have any hints as to how long to glow - but I can count and I could never believe the dash light anyway! :) > I am not looking for a step 1, step 2, approach. If I were to have to purchase all the pieces, I'd sure look at one of the kits. Let me know if you want more detailed info.
