I find the DOT lights to be unfashionable and detract from the lines of the cars. The w114/115 look much better with euro lights, as do the R113, the W116, w123, and the w126. The round lamps make it look like a beady eyed freak. The silly round lamps in the w210 are damn ugly too. clay .

SWMBA likes the lines of the 116. I will grant that it is a very well built car and has a sense of engineering and style that project confidence all around. They are truly tanks. Maybe it is the headlights that make me shy away. A w116 with euro lamps looks a tad bit more proper than the

Was at the junkyard this morning. Saw a very nice 79 280SE. Had euro headlights on it, Bosch glass and the aiming vacuum pods. All looks very nice and clean. If anyone wants them let me know and I'll go back and get them for you. Manfred ___

I am having a hard time seeing the w116 as a collectors car. There are a number of good examples, but somehow they miss the bus for sex appeal. The W126 is much more exciting. Maybe I am seeing too many that have been thrashed over 30-40 years with little thought for future use. clay
