Jim has a fleet, and may in time decide to just open a used car lot, so that he can play with all the sorts of car he would like to get his hands on. At least that way, he can have a little cash and car flow On Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 07:51 AM, Jim Cathey wrote: SWMBA?? Or do you mean SWMBO? No, She Who Must Be Annoyed. I would love to have the SDL. The amount of leg space out back is significant, even though I think it is only 2" more than the SD. Ended up with the POS SDL for the legroom. The extra 5.5" of wheelbase is all in the rear footwell, and is a pretty serious addition to legroom back there. About like what you get by running the front seats up all the way, but without the need for Munchkin driver and shotgun occupants. And _with_ the passenger seat all the way forward it makes quite a playpen in back, for those waiting-for-SWMBA moments in parking lots. -- Jim

I would love to have the SDL. The amount of leg space out back is significant, even though I think it is only 2" more than the SD. Ended up with the POS SDL for the legroom. I think the cracking has something to do with whether or not the engine had a Trap Oxidizer and how many times the engine overheated. Same here - 292kmi on a #14 head. IIRC, Marshall was saying around 20% of the 603 heads were cracking, and I'm guessing that most of them have already done it if they're going to. The 603 engine in the 126 chassis is awesome!!! That 6 inches sure seems like more. Rear seat passengers really appreciate it. I did try pushing each button down every few seconds with no action from the ACC. The central locking must be inoperative, probably due to the moisture in the trunk. Fuses also can play into it! Did the clock run? Same fuse as the central locking system. I almost bought a well-maintained 83 SD as my second MB, but I decided to hold out for the SDL. I wanted a 'boat'. -- Jim

Hi, Jim. I did try pushing each button down every few seconds with no action from the ACC. The central locking must be inoperative, probably due to the moisture in the trunk. This car was boxed in by three other cars on the lot (not the position where a hot selling diesel Benz should be that was advertised in the paper 2 days earlier. The salesman (you know how salesmen are) told me that there have been quite a few calls on the car, and when I told him that I would be back tomorrow when I had more time, he said "if it's still here." I know that it will be, or the buyer (possibly me) will give him a lowball offer to clear it outa there. My dad and I must have waited at least 20 minutes while he rounded up the keys and people to move the surrounding cars. Kevin in Hillsboro Oregon 1973 220D parting out
