I chased this on my first SDL also. One thing that helped: after I changed the carrier and the rubber mount again, I noticed the new rubber mount for the carrier is not as thick or stiff as the older ones. THis allowed the carrier bearing to sag at rest, and to float around while running.

I am assuming that the driveshaft for the 300SDL would be longer due to the longer wheelbase vehicle, but not sure. I was able to locate a company that would overhaul my old driveshaft and balance it, so hoping that will correct my vibration issue. Thanks for the reply. Ralph '87 300SDL
