Right side cam oilers were plastic, which would harden and break/shatter from 
age and temperature extremes, causing cam(s) to fail to be adequately 
lubricated.

The “Deathmobile”, whihc I bought from Rusty, was one of these. That said, the 
top end and chain work were done, however, it dropped something in the cylinder 
at the left front of the engine that I was never able to idenitfy, even with a 
scope, so I dumped it. A real nachtmare.

I bought 2 420SELs some years ago for $400. One had been hit in rear so was 
parts car with supposedly good engine. Other car was fairly OK but engine had 
jumped chain and poked a hole in the valve cover and was trashed. Same issue as 
this guy’s car I guess. 

I dismantled the wreck and pulled the engine and other bits so all that is 
sitting. Have not done anything with the “good” car with bad engine. I’ll get 
to it some day I guess.
