Re: [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
The only thing I wish my E320 had was the memory seats. That was more of an issue back when my wife used to drive it than it is now, though. Funny that ever since the evaporator sprung a leak and the A/C quit, she hasn't been interested in it :^) Gary Thompson 1995 E320 (equipped with not so rare exploding evaporator option) On 3/25/08, Kaleb C. Re: [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
The older cars may have more options, but they are older, and older things tend to break more often than newer things in general. Headlight washers are great, not so much for dirt, but work wonderful if you live where they heavily salt the roads. Mind you, I'd trade headlight washers and memory seats for more or less the same car, 10 years newer, and with lower miles, especially if you plan to keep it awhile. If cared for, the gassers will go a long time with little more than regular servicing. Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy the wagon if you get it. 1) these are way too cheap right now. I've seen fairly clean sedans with that kind of mileage for well under $5000. Don't see many wagons, so it's hard to tell if they're selling at any kind of premium. 2) Wiring harness issues started with the introduction of the M104 engine in 1993 and continued on through 1995. 3) wiring harness, evaporator, head gasket oil leak above rear exhaust manifold, EGR tube blockage that causes CEL. That's pretty much it. 4) I regularly see 23-24MPG for 70% highway driving. I could easily see getting 26 for a full tank at 70MPH. If you're driving an explorer and an expedition, why are you worrying about the fuel consumption of a 6 cylinder car? Not so sure about the wiring harness dates. I have two 124 - E300D's that are both nominal '95 model year. But the manufacturing dates on the door plates say March and July of 1994 respectively. A S124 300TD should get better than 25mpg hwy, so I don't see how the E320 is claimed to get as good/better than the diesel. On a trip like the 28mpg Texas trip mentioned earlier, the diesel would probably get 30-34, would it not? The numbers you see on fueleconomy.gov have been fooled with and are now useless for older cars. (they didn't retest the old cars with the new standards, they just fudged the numbers from the contemporary tests) The window sticker MPG for that E320 was 18/24, and I've never owned a car that couldn't match or beat its EPA highway rating in my normal local driving, and beat the hwy rating by a clear margin on long trips. Unfortunately, I don't believe the 1987 ratings are comparable to the 1995 ratings, so there really isn't an EPA rating comparison for the 300TD and E320T, or whatever they called the 1995 wagon. If we accept the current EPA guess, it's 16/22 for the gasser and 21/25 for the diesel. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
I looked at a few with higher mileage, asking anywhere from $4-7000. If it's as clean as it sounds, and well sorted and with those miles, it would be worth paying a little more, than wasting your time trying to find another similar one. EPA sounds about right. Again, they are great cars, costing a fraction of what they did new, so if you find a good one for fair money, I wouldn't worry too much about pumping a little extra money through the gas tank. How much do you drive a year, or plan to? I find the only time you really notice when you're paying more for gas, is when you're driving something you don't really like. If you like the car, you'll soon forget about the mileage. ;-) Ed 300E On 24/03/2008, Donald Snook <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I have asked a few things about this car before, but now I am getting > serious about it. > > My Indy (Autohaus Stuttgart) here in Wichita has a 1994 E320 Wagon for > sale. [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
I have asked a few things about this car before, but now I am getting serious about it. My Indy (Autohaus Stuttgart) here in Wichita has a 1994 E320 Wagon for sale. He has had it for about 4 years. He drove it for 3 years and has had it for sale (on and off) for the last 9-12 months. It has 139,000 miles on it. It is white with blue MB tex interior. It has the third seat. He previously replaced the evaporator core and has put a ton of work into it. It has Euro headlights, AMG brakes (rotors, pads, and even calipers). It is in VERY nice shape. He said NO ONE has looked at it. He probably has 10-12 cars for sale at a time, but the wagon is the only one he has had for this long. I think he is ready to make a deal. So, here are my questions: 1. What is a typical price for these cars? 2. I think the wiring harness problem started in 95, is that correct? 3. What other problem areas are for these cars? 4. The (revised) EPA guide on fuel mileage says 16 in town, 22 on the highway. Does that sound about right? He told me he took the car to Texas and got 28 mpg and that it would routinely 25 on the highway, that sounds pretty high to me. Does anyone have one of these. P.S. I may be selling my wife's 1997 Ford Explorer if someone needs a reliable SUV. It is 4X4, very nice shape, towing package, etc. Donald H. Re: [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
Well unless you live in Canada and want a 92 or earlier w124 diesel from Europe or Japan (where most benz except the G-wagons seem to be left hand drive). Pricing runs 9 to 12K Canadian FOB Japan, you'll need to figure out how much that is in worthless greenbacks tho. On Nov 7, 2007, at 10:47 AM, Kaleb C. Re: [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
If it has the ASD feature like my 92 300TDt then it should have two return lines to the hydraulic reservoir, screwed on top of the tank. one line is the return feed from the suspension system 2nd line is the return feed from the ASD system. without ASD there will only be one line. [MBZ] 1994 E320 Wagon Questions
I am looking at a 124 Wagon. It is a 1994 with 132,000 miles. The evap has been replaced. The car is in fantastic shape. Does this model have the wiring harness problem or does that start in 95 with the wagon. It is for sale for $8500 - which is WAY too high. However, the car is practically spotless. It is white with a blue interior (there seem to be a lot of them in this combination) Really nice interior. The rear suspension is in good shape and the hydraulic fluid was flushed and filled. It is NOT a 4-Matic, but I do think it has the ASD (or whatever the traction control acronym is). My questions are: 1. What is a reasonable price for this car in excellent shape with a big book of service records and a $3000 evap already done. 2. Any other problems specific to these cars that I should check? 3.
