I don't know about the 91, but the 92 and 93 have an electronically
controlled turbo. The computer knows when you disable the EGR and cuts
boost. It also cuts boost when it notices anything wrong (or a sensor
reports something wrong). Its a nice car when all that stuff works, but
it does go bad occasionally.

They are the same basic engine, some of the vacuum and emissions stuff will
be different. Im sure the mounting arms are different.

The earlier 602.961 engine puts out a few more hp and the EGR can be
disabled without causing the engine to drop into limp home mode. The
later engine has a more complex computer control and emissions system
that is more difficult to repair.

I wonder if any shipper would take it to MA cheap enough to keep the
total under $1k? Flying to MI and U-Hauling back home would surely
be over $600. If it runs and you're brave, you might take out the
lifters and plug the fuel line to the bad cylinder and drive it
home.

I would guess the mounts for various accessories, exhaust manifold
outlet, air cleaner mount, things like that - chassis specific
adaptations.
However - I've never laid eyes on a '87 190D - so all the above is a WAG.
