Re: [MBZ] 2008 ML 320 CDI?

If your budget supports it, I would spring for a German made 250G K
Bluetec. I purchased mine with 132K+ miles and have had no major issues
in 18 months. Beautifully made, quiet, handles great, and h'way fuel
economy is off the charts (41 mpg).

I don't know much about them either but recall people saying that the ML is a
truck. It rides and handles more like a truck than a car. Did the 2008 have
Bluetec? Kevin posted something a month or two back about how many of the
issues with newer MB diesels were related to the particulate filter (DPF) and
interrupting its regen function, which can happen if the vehicle is used mostly
for short trips. If the 180k miles are mostly highway and it's been maintained,
maybe it's still got some life left in it?

2021-09-08 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
164s are a lot more complex than a 163 for no particular benefit that I
can see.  722.9 transmission (I presume this ML has one) that is more
expensive to fix if it kakks, the 722.6 in earlier vehicles is quite
strong.  The 164 is more "refined" not so much the body-on-frame "truck"
like the 163, rides better I suppose.  More of a soccer mom Mipsey mall
runner but still a nice vehicle.  If you just want some hauling
capacity, look for a 211 wagon, the earlier ones have the 722.6 (like my
05E320 wagon).  The 211 is a nice ride too.  The diesel will get some
good fuel economy and has LOTS of torque and is fun to drive for sure.

[MBZ] 2008 ML 320 CDI?

2021-09-08 Thread Don Snook via Mercedes
I found a 2008 ML CDI with 180K miles for sale. That's a lot of miles for
these newer MB. But, I know very little about the ML. I remember reading that
some years are good and others have very expensive common issues. The price of
used cars is so high right now that I can sell my current car (2018 BMW) for as
much as I paid for it and pocket enough to pay cash for an older daily driver.
I really like the idea of no car payments. But, I'm concerned this ML could be
a money pit.
