Sounds like issues that can be managed by staying on top of maintenance. For example not stretching oil change intervals, maybe even shortening them. Most owners are really bad at this. My 2014 GLK 250 has had no such issues. Is it a different engine? There is so much that could happen with the OM 642 Bluetec engines and the problems caused by the emissions system. Some problems include too much fuel in the oil due to interrupting the regeneration cycle for the DPF, inefficient combustion and soot buildup in the oil due to the EGR, and in some extreme cases leading to timing chain where and extreme oil consumption before 80K miles if not properly maintained. all of the stuff that I’ve read is starting to make me consider selling my sprinter and getting one that’s gas powered. However, I don’t think I would be too happy with a small four-cylinder engine pulling that big van around.
