Friend has a 40' diesel pusher with a 8 point something Cummins turbo 
diesel.

He gets about 10 mpg while pulling a small car at highway speeds.

Folks,

knock on wood, but my 83 300td has been performing flawlessly for the past month

mostly on grease, i've driven it

from athens, ga to tybee island 260 miles

from tybee to millen ga and back 180 miles

to new orleans and back to tybee probably 1700 miles including driving around 
new orleans for 10 days

from tybee to charleston sc 250 miles round trip

then from tybee to red level al and andalusia al 430 miles each way (860 + 
local driving)

ac running 98% of all travels

not bad for an old car

are there any list members in alabama?

i'm over here maybe buying a safari trek on an isuzu npr chassis

[MBZ] 300td travels mileage on WVO

I don't really know my mileage

my odometer doesn't work right ….. it occasionally adds a mile altho the speedo 
is fine. 

started out full, went about 1200 miles according to google, maybe 1240 miles

I hauled 12 X 5 gals of wvo but all weren't accurately filled … some full, some 
down an inch or two

I came home with 5 gals and the tank would probably need 7 or 8 gals to fill, 
so about 63 gals for 1250 miles

20 mpg …. it's probably a little better, but i was going fast and dragging a 
trailer

it usually seems like i get about 25 mpg

something may be wrong with my computations …. tank may have been down 10 gals 
at the start

I didn't use any oil. The AC (R12) blew cold. I recently installed a 
little 300w 110v inverter. It worked well and kept all the iDevices 
charged up.


I think it was a pretty impressive and trouble free trip

While i was gone, our daughter drove her 1984 300D on a 500 mile round 
trip down to tybee island. She was running diesel, but she had no 
problems at all
