There is a simple way to identify a motor which has been rebuilt by Mercedes. The plate on the motor should indicate in German- Austauschmotor (or something like that). You can see the plate location by going to my website-and viewing the crate motor. The plate is on the rear of the motor, on the passenger's side, just above the transmission cooling line.
