Doesn't take much at body shop rates to total an older car. If the repair
estimate is over 75% of the book value they usually just write it off.

Minor fender bender to my '95 124 resulted in total, salvage title. Damage to
front left fender, front bumper, signal light. That was enough to total the
car.

It appears it had a minor scrape on the passenger side...
Sad because it was a pretty low mileage car, it only had 184k on it.
