For changing oil or exposure to old oil and grease, I use nitrile gloves I buy at HF when they have them on sale. For other work that doesn't involve oil and grease, I use mechanics gloves. You get used to gloves... there's little I can't do with them now. It's nice to keep your hands clean and somewhat protected, but also consider the long term benefits. Constant exposure to ancient oil, grease and dirt isn't good for your long-term chances of getting cancer. Now that I am on lots of blood thinners it’s a whole new adventure working on cars. It’s a good day when I don’t do something that then leads to bleeding out.
