I was thinking that too, but Kaleb says this car already has that clutched
pulley, so ? One example is a terrible sample size to draw a conclusion
from.

If you switch the alternator pulley to the freewheel version, it will not
jiggle the spring to death at idle. But springs are pretty cheap.

Not really suggesting anything. That statement came to mind, and I thought I'd
share it.

A poor choice of wording for the subject line. It suggests
There, I fixed it. I have not seen a tire iron that would fit in a
3/8" or 11 mm hole. Not even my BMW motorsickle tire irons will. They
are small. I always have a 12" extension in my box, and they work well
for this job. Still takes me more than a minute. More like 10-15 to
stop,
All it takes is a tire iron/lug wrench, a couple of 13mm wrenches and a minute
and you can swap the spring out.
The lug wrench is the critical tool here.

That is good news, far better than dealing with stripped threads or worse.
I'm beginning to wonder if keeping a spare spring in my OM60x cars wouldn't
be a bad idea. I've heard several stories about these springs breaking,
not terribly common but would be very inconvenient if it happened on the
Good.
I do have a little faith in my wrenching prowess.
