I've had some luck finding brushes at my Ace Hardware in their "majik drawers"
of strange hardware. No guarantees, but I know I found brushes for a heater
blower on a W126 in them once.

Try google search for "alternator starter parts warehouse". I found a
place that sells individual parts to rebuild Bosch alternators and starters.
