Kudos to the wife who is the one now listing the car. She did not respond to my
comments, which is OK as I left it at that. I’m pleased, as her husband, who
had listed the car previously, was less than nice when corresponding.
Guess that $1500 deposit he had must have fallen through somehow.

Got the VIN for this car. Interior color is 173, which is “Brazil brown” MB Tex.

It’s got brown windlace, which makes me believe the interior is brown. It’s
also a very different shade than the dash, which we know is black. Carpet
doesn’t look black, either.

In some of the photos, is sure looks to be black. Does black fade to
brown in Florida?

True, but the miles are relatively low, it appears to be in relatively good
shape cosmetically, and it’s the last model year (1985) which is also a good
thing. I would give them $3k, maybe $3500 for it.

I was thinking $900. It is a very low option car. Not even leather. By the time
it's sorted you're into it for 50+ hours and $1,500 in parts. Then it's a $5k
car.

They haven’t ruined it - yet. I’m guessing it’s in Florida, they’re in

understand its value which would explain why their ask is well above market,

That is a really sad scenario.

Yeah if a car is fundamentally nice but has not been cleaned in a while, a trip
to the detail shop will pay itself back in the sale price. Nothing like shiny
paint, clean glass, spotless interior to add an aura of "this is a good car"

Exactly. And I did a little digging and I think the sellers may be the

they’re either uninformed or just ignorant.

One would think, that if one was going offer for sale, a nice looking
car for a reasonably high price, you might clean it up under the hood.
The dirty mess under the hood suggests it hasn't really been all that
well cared for.

This has been for sale near the Villages (massive county-wide retirement

price, and he blew me off and told me “I’ve got two people coming in th
