1) Borrow $50
2) hitchhike to San Bernardino
3) find missing body parts in junk yard and reattach to car
4) drive the new wagon (with temp plates) back to DC.

When I flew to Little Rock to pick up the 350SDL I carried on with a bunch of 
tools. I realized my mistake when I got to security, as I had intended to check 
that bag. Dang it!

I spent about 20 minutes with some HS employee with a gauge that measured the 
length of my tools to see if they could go or not. Mostly HF stuff on purpose, 
it went in the bin if they didn't approve.

I probably got flagged because I had a one way ticket, too.

Back in the early 80s I was flying from BOS to DCA with a colleague, we 
get on the plane, after we get up a ways he pulls out his briefcase to 
get some document or something, his loaded .38 was sitting there, he had 
gone to the range the night before and forgot to take it out when he got 
home.  Oops!  No big deal...  We got a good laugh out of that.  he got 
it back home that evening too, I think he told them and unloaded it and 
it was OK.
