no, 114s were all gas powered 6 cylinder, 115 were diesel and 4 cylinder
gas. The 115 has more body welds because they were used for heavy duty
taxi service.

never figured out what the difference was. 114 may be a short-hood
version for 4 cyl engines
The 114 was the up-scale version. All sixes were 114, all fours
were 115. I'm not sure where the 5-cylinders fit in there, I think
they might also have been 114. Our 250C is a 114, the 200D a 115.

Completely off topic, but today Gas prices were hovering at $3.50-ish
a gallon, and diesel was at $2.88 very rare I see diesel below
gas.

I will surely *offer* you a fair price for a good engine. However, my
finances may have other ideas. They have a life of their own right now

Just wait -- I'm expecting diesel to go up later and stay up longer,
just like it did after Katrina/Rita the other year.

Here in MA anyway gas is now $0.15-$0.25 a gallon more expensive than diesel.

I am not into butchery of 123s. If it won't bolt in, I will look for
an engine that will fit. Just a shame if I can't find a use
with a Pro-Jection setup from Holley.

I have a 500 in my 76 Eldo, I am not sure that thing would fit between
the wheel wells of a 123. It is sizable. Now if you took the whole
Eldo FWD set up and put it in the back (though you would need some
fender flares, like off a dually truck)...

Building a frankenbenz
Last weekend I started the project of stripping my 76 300D (115
body). The engine and transmission are really good, but the body had
rotted away. I have been pondering the swap into my 80 240D
(123) as I was lifting the engine out, I found the oil filter is
