If you could get the U-channel (use a gasket for an OM617?) then cut to length and super glue the ends together, I'm sure that would work. On the other hand, are you sure the gasket that is on there needs to be replaced? I've re-used them many times with no problem. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC

Just filled the fuel tank on my 124 diesel wagon, 24.2 mpg around town. Looking back in my fuel log, mileage jumped about 2 mpg when I replaced the faulty thermostat which was keeping the engine too cool. I'm expecting the highway mpg to be around 27 or 28 now, but no chance to test that yet. ---
