Re: [MBZ] blinker relay

2017-03-05 Thread clay via Mercedes
There may have been cross contamination with the fluid. It might have traveled
in its leaking such that it caused the engine to lose oil at a sort of
prodigious rate. We had no issue heading east. On the return trip (got to
Williston Thursday, left Tuesday) the car was not able to go more than 300
miles without needing at least a quart of fresh oil to make the oil light go
out. I am not sure how blinker fluid got mixed up with crank case oil, but it
poked a leak some where.

I noticed that the turbo in the SDL now works, or at least screams, where it
had not done that before the trip. Not really screams, but spools up in a
turbo manner. The underside of the car is a little coated in oil, and the rear
got coated in some of the oil as well as the road grime. I think it might be
that the turbo was finally able to blast along with a 2400 mile trip, where it
had just been oozing down the pipe for the past decade.

Think I have to pull the turbo to gain access to the rest of the system so I
can dissolve the snot? That might allow everything to flow the way it was
meant to

While fueling up in Spokane, I noticed it was low and used the generic
blinker fluid at the Holiday. I am not sure why my kid likes that
place, but he does. There seems to be a leak in the reservoir, so it
was good i did not splurge on the Mobil 1 Fluid.

I jiggled the relay, changed the oil, and added M1 fluid. Now the

Cycle the emergency flasher switch about a billion times.
If it clears up, schedule some time to take it apart and
clean the contacts.

It's almost never the blinker relay, almost always that switch.
And all it needs is a good cleaning, usually.

Well in my 83 300TD it was located on the driver's side of the
transmission stick shift under the wood console.

Re: [MBZ] Blinker relay

2007-09-16 Thread Wonko the Sane
1. Have you tried resetting (smacking the crap out of) the emergency blinker
switch? My '77 240D occasionally loses blinker and it turns out to be the
fault of the emergency blinker switch.

2. Kleb has a whole back yard full of what you need, if that fails.
