They are indeed coded to the car. You can probably open up the case and take a look at the circuit boards to see if there is any corrosion. You might be able to clean it up to see if it would then work — toothbrush and alcohol. If not you will have to find one that can be recoded to match the

Thanks Clay! I really like the design of the Coupe but build quality is critical - especially if I'm going to a gas engine - I'll be learning a lot about new car electronics and don't want fenders falling off while I'm troubleshooting the air flow sensor. (fr instance) :-) LarryT On

I was looking at them as upgrade or replacement when Gump died. SWMBA wanted a fresh car instead of the E300 and I liked the idea of a ragtop. I tested a few and decided that was not a good idea, since there was no trunk room. I looked into the hardtops and found they did not have much more

speaking of replacement MBs - I have always liked the lines of the 320CLK and 420CLK (I suspect the 320 is plenty of power) although it's a shame they don't come in Diesels. Anyone have anything good/bad about them? They don't seem to hold their value too well - not usually good sign

Back in the mid '90s there was a E Class Coupe introduced which I believe was also called CLK but they confused things by calling the C class coupe a CLK also. Never heard of it. Unlikely. I believe the E Class is currently called  a CLK350. I believe it's a E Class modified to a 2 door
