Most dealers have a carfax account now days and will run it for you. Carfax and autocheck have prices themselves out of business for me. NO NO NO, many, not most, dealers have a carfax account, but very few have an unlimited account. They usually have to pay per report they run on a monthly basis. Most of them will run a report on their better units just to have on hand. For what it is worth, I suspect the average used car dealer knows little more about the cars on the lot than you do. They buy them at auction and put them on the lot for sale. I don't think most will do much to the vehicle apart from cleaning until a deal is made. I have bought 2 used F150's from the same lot and in both cases, I had them looked at by my mechanic and then told them what I wanted repaired. They did not argue in either case. Just did the work and sold me the trucks. I might have driven a bit harder bargain if I did not ask for as much to be done but in both cases, I have not been unhappy with the results. Smartass. Just checking for the fun of it. No more greasy puffy shirt detailing stuff. The Mercedes Martha Stewart has started in on it. It got a complete Mobil 1 treatment along with new filters on Saturday along with addressing a couple of outstanding TSBs that needed attention. Today it got Leatherique'ed and Prestine Cleaned along with a good wash. Tomorrow the carpets get cleaned and it gets the clay bar treatment before a coat (or two) of 3M Show Car Wax. Later in the week the crappy clamp style battery terminals will get replaced with crimp/solder types. Wednesday the factory premium audio head unit arrives, ready to be installed in the dash with the PIE iPod2 interface. I may also have a factory subwoofer from a Grand Marquis ready to go by then, too. Next weekend it will get an ATF drain and refill with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and a new filter. Maybe Mobil 1 diff oil, too. I'm sure I'm missing something, but it's a start. The LX Sport is the top end trim and accessory package. It's dechromed but has all the goodies like air suspension, factory alloy wheels, leather, automatic climate control, premium sound system, etc. It's as close to the P71 (police interceptor) you can get without actually buying one. As for the mileage issue with the title, we knew about this as it was part of a lien action the dealer took against the previous owner. The mileage is actual.
