Don’t Windex them, buy the foamy window cleaner that is approved for use on 
window tint.  It does a much better job.

I like Stoner “Invisible Glass”.  Works well on all glass surfaces and is safe 
to use on window tint, something that’s important both here and in AZ.

 As I understand it doing head gaskets proactively on these is a good idea. I 
talked to a guy that owns a small Subaru shop that sells cars and he does head 
gaskets on every car he gets in. He says they're quick and "easy"...

This should come back to a 1994 E320 Cab

 WDBEA66E9RC133827 

It is up for auction in the morning and I took a gander at it today.  Not 
horrible and if the idiots do not bid silly, I may take it home.

There was a sprinter up as well.  Local cops paddy wagon with a great lay out.  
Mid section had a metal enclosure to house six miscreants on opposite benches 
and a tiny window in the door.  Rear had two compartments with one bench each 
for a pair of malefactors.  Each box has IR cams to keep an eye on the action 
in back.  That would be a sweet car for field trips.

Didn't work for me when I tried it this AM.
I've got a suggestion for carfax/autocheck requesters:
Go to autocheck.com and enter the VIN for a free check. If they come up with a 
believable description of the car (make, model, engine) then copy and paste the 
VIN to email. Then Kaleb or whoever won't be running invalid VINs.

puzzles me too. Now that Deutchland has been reunited and West Germany is no 
more, what do the German cars start with, a D? Does the W now mean South 
Africa?

W still means Germany/West Germany.  The next two are a manufacturer's 
code; DB = Daimler Benz.  I don't know if OstGermany joined the VIN 
standardization club, but our Trabant starts with E, but it is a '75.


South Africa should start with A.  Maybe they're only assembling 
knocked-down kits there, with enough work done in Germany to warrant a W 
VIN?  The Monroney on the new C I looked at last week said Final 
Assembly was in East London, ZA with something like 80+% of the parts 
content coming from Germany.

Now those two sound interchangeable. ;-)

I've been told (mainly in the context of eBay) to never buy a car from
a FL used car dealer. Maybe private seller isn't as bad. Used Toys
and Hondas never seem like a good deal up here in MI. Either they are
overpriced or overworn or both. (Sure, I'd love to pay you $3500 for your
1992 Crudolla. Not.)

Won't $3500 get you a decent '87 300D or SDL, or a very nice 300E?

My thoughts, also.  I took my daughter down to look at it.  Turns out the 
reason it was so cheap is that it wouldn't shift.  A bit more looking at the 
other cars on that lot and she decided to look at private sellers. The entire 
lot was dirty and much used and abused. 
At this point she is looking for either a Voyager or a Corolla [less than $4k].

So it was leased in 2000, auctioned to a dealer  resold less than a year later
(first owner must not have liked it), traded in 2003, auctioned to dealer,
resold, traded in 2007, auctioned to dealer, and now the car's been sitting
there unsold since April? Quite a history for a 7 year old car, not that it
really says anything about the car itself. A good PPI would tell you more about
the car's condition than trying to draw inferences from the Carfax, but at
least it hasn't been stolen, crashed, or flooded.

Now those two sound interchangeable. ;-)

I've been told (mainly in the context of eBay) to never buy a car from
a FL used car dealer. Maybe private seller isn't as bad. Used Toys
and Hondas never seem like a good deal up here in MI. Either they are
overpriced or overworn or both. (Sure, I'd love to pay you $3500 for your
1992 Crudolla. Not.)

Won't $3500 get you a decent '87 300D or SDL, or a very nice 300E?

So it was leased in 2000, auctioned to a dealer  resold less than a year later
(first owner must not have liked it), traded in 2003, auctioned to dealer,
resold, traded in 2007, auctioned to dealer, and now the car's been sitting
there unsold since April? Quite a history for a 7 year old car, not that it
really says anything about the car itself. A good PPI would tell you more about
the car's condition than trying to draw inferences from the Carfax, but at
least it hasn't been stolen, crashed, or flooded.
