Did Craig ever make it online? Any specific help we can offer? Including
things not computer, if that's what's needed.

Thanks,

If he has an interface and gets output from
 sudo /sbin/iwlist ethX scan
Then I can get him through wpa-supplicant from the command line, once I'm
 back at work.

He should be home, but he might be too busy to talk to us.
I figure if he had functional wifi in the hotel room we'd have heard
about it when it happened.

You are right on all counts.

Since Los Alamos is a very dusty place, and since I had removed our
computer equipment for the evacuation, I decided to do a good cleaning of
our main computer area. I didn't get back on line until late this morning.

[MBZ] Craig's internet problem

2011-07-01 Thread Mitch Haley

I got a call from Craig McKluskey (505-231-5428) this morning.
He bought an Asus N10 USB wifi device, and is having trouble using it to connect
to the hotel wifi on his linux box.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320049
He thinks part of the problem might be with installing WPA and/or wireless
tools.

Can anybody help Craig?
I'm going to suggest he download fresh drivers from Realtek's web site, got that
idea from a Newegg product review.
