I have had really good results using grout able vinyl tile over existing tile.
It is recommended that you use a texture filler
On the original tile so that the texture does not eventually mirror on the new
tile. Best to make sure the seams do not line up on the old and new tiles as
well.

An exterior chimney is no good if you're trying to burn wood while it's really
cold out. The draft is terrible until the chimney warms up and if it's really
cold sometimes its hard to keep the chimney warm.

Our new house up north has a chimney in the kitchen/diningroom which is
connected to an old cook stove that's all worn out, you can see the back wall
right through the firebox. The chimney is covered like Dimitri's but in really
nice shape so I'm going to uncover it and hopefully find a small cook stove as
a replacement. Same thing in the parlor/living room, its got what must have
been a nice stove in the '80s but looks really dated and out of place now. I'm
on the lookout for either a Jotul 602 or an antique parlor stove. The Jotul
looks right-ish and will be way more efficient...

There were a bunch of missing shingles around the chimney and since they were
replaced the leak seems to have gone away.

I?ve got a small bathroom in the Flagstaff house that has very dated 12? square
vinyl flooring (from what I can see.) It?s a small area, maybe 4? x 6?, if
that. The flooring is in good condition finish-wise, but is discolored from age
and UV exposure due to a skylight being in the ceiling. It was clearly put down
before the bathroom was finished, as it goes underneath the vanity, toilet, and
shower insert.

Here?s my question:

Can I simply put another layer of either 12? square or continuous flooring over
this without an issue? It?s clearly stable and could very well be original (40+
years). There?s no lifting, peeling or separation anywhere that I can find.

I?m going to be replacing the toilet at the same time, so I?ll be putting the
flooring around the floor flange so it will cover the whole area rather than be
butted against the edges of the toilet base.

Recommendations for material? I presume I?ll just put some sort of mastic down
with a V trowel to secure the flooring?

No need for anything fancy, just looking to make it look nice and consistent.

Thanks!

What is it applied to?? Concrete or subfloor?

Peel and stick vinyl might work, or go for this.

Got back yesterday from my trip, started the ML after it had sat at the
airport for 9 days, started right up then died after a second with
dreaded START ERROR light in the cluster.? $h*t. Started it a coupla
more times, same thing.? I finally cycled the remote fob (which needs a
new battery) door un/lock a coupla times holding it close to the antenna
behind the RV mirror, and it started fine.? Battery seemed OK, fired
right up, just unhappy from sitting maybe.

You could consider a floating interlocking vinyl plank floor, that would go
down with no glue or anything. You might need a riser on the toilet flange, as
that should stay level with the floor for proper seal.
