Re: [MBZ] Do Harbor Freight floor jacks

I just went and bought a 3ton low profile on sale for $139. I guess I need to
find rebuild kits for these various jacks I have and get them fixed up so I
don’t get derailed in the middle of a job. I think there are 5 dead jacks
kicking around now I have had for various lengths of time. One of them is a big
ancient lift, probably 5T and a coupla old sears and i think now two HFs.

There’s a shop I took my engine hoist cylinder to that had all the various
seals and such. Maybe I should get them apart and go there and let them match
up proper bits

Like you, I have accumulated several harbor freight jacks [and others] that
are either leaking down when loaded, or fail to pump up.. all need
resealed..
After seeing your post, I was finally stimulated to do a you tube search
for video of rebuilding such jacks.. there are several videos, teardown is
quite simple, it seems the magic trick is knowing the size of the shaft and
sleeve the needed O'Ring or seal is, or the model number/brand of the
jack...
Looks like complete re-seal kits run in the $15 or less range, and it's a
"simple job" to get to them.
So... something else to add to my "must do work list" since new jacks are
now into the $200 range [or more].
Thanks? hahaha..

I have not ran into any issues with them. I have a couple of the grey ones and
2-3 of the old orange ones and they are fine. Although I don’t use the that
often anymore now that I have 2 lifts.

[MBZ] Do Harbor Freight floor jacks

2023-11-18 Thread Buggered Benzmail via Mercedes
Last more than 2yr before the seals go bad? I’ve got 2 now that have crapped
out and the newest one just now in the middle of changing air bags on the GL. I
guess it’s off to get yet another one since I don’t have time to mess with
these I have.

What a PITA
