you can 'chip' the DT466 to get more power. The tractor pullers get
lots of hp out of the ag version. i don't know what the most hp
record is for the engine. It is probably in the high hundreds.

We bought a 99 in Gilmore CA with a 24 foot box, DT466, 6 speed, and
air suspension for $10k a couple of years ago.
DT 466 was designed in the famed IH design facility in Germany and is
not only used in trucks, but also such IH tractors as the 1066
through 1486, and they run forever. Many farmers still use these
tractors rather than buying new, because the engine has not been
available in new tractors since the demise of IHC.
ON the subject of
diesel engines, they're thinking of buying a used 14-16' box truck to haul
the gear with a large enough diesel engine that can also pull the boats,
something more powerful than the 4cyl Isuzu NPR. Any suggestions?
