Re: [MBZ] EVEN MORE OT Seadoos

2014-02-21 Thread Randy Bennell

Another thing that is of some interest to me is a Seadoo.
I am not inclined to buy a highpowered new one but a year or two back
there was one advertised locally that I now wish I had gone to check out.
It was one of the original Seadoo models. A bit rustic looking compared
to the new ones but neat in its own way.

The original Seadoo came out in '68 but they were terrible, they didn't have
enough power and sank a lot.

We went on a cruise last spring and took a jetski tour, it was an awful lot of
fun and of course I'd just come off snowmobile season so I was very fast. The
guide said that I was the only one he'd ever led that kept right on his tail,
he said to be 100' back and I hung there like we were on a string. That was
with both Angie and I on the machine and I kept the throttle wide open almost
the whole time, even when we hit a boat's wake, the jet drive made a very
interesting noise when it came out of the water running full bore...

The one that was advertised here on Kijiji was an original one. I don't
recall the asking price but it was not silly. Not sure if parts would be
available so I did not go to look at it.
I remember a lodge on Dryberry Lake had 2 or 3 of them around that time
too. I did not see any of the run but they were at the dock when we went
in by boat to do some electrical work at the lodge.
That would have been in the summer of 1969 I think. I worked as an
electrician's helper that summer.
