I don't think they actually got any into the country for people to
buy. Smart wouldn't sign a deal with them, the few they
had around they bought helterskeler from various places on the globe

True, I don't disagree. But you gotta admit, that passenger
compartment held up pretty nicely. Besides, the same decelleration
would inflict injury in a large car just the same. The only saving
grace with a big car would be if the crumple zone reduced the
decelleration g-forces by slowing the colli

Just because the car is intact doesen't mean that the passengers survived;
on the contrary, the more parts that crumple or fly off the car the more
energy that is released, this means less energy transfered to the passengers
