Wow, actually I'm impressed it managed 10 mpg with the original carb setup.
I have been told that the contemporary Winnies often got down to half that.
(Anyone remember when the highways were full of Winnebagos during the
summer? I saw a REALLY old one last week, obviously some guy getting it back
onto the road for hunting season.)

Someone at GMC had a creative streak and a sense of adventure around then.
Remember the Astro highway tractors? They were the nicest looking trucks on
the road for a long time, IIRC.
