As Max opined, the W124 SLS system is pretty robust.  Not something I would 
concern myself with.

Don,

124 wagons are more better, but have same hydraulic rear suspension.
Better = hydraulic pump is not built into the head of the engine, but a
dual-circuit power steering pump which lowers the cost of repair of either
the pump or the head, and the pumps are far more common because of the
relatively common gasser wagon vs. the more rare diesel wagons.  I suspect
that one could also adapt the dual circuit pump from a 126 sedan like the
560SEL which had the same suspension.

Every 100k miles or so, plan on replacing the accumulator spheres, instead
of replacing the shocks that the sedans use.
