Re: [MBZ] hood star
Many years ago a UF engineering student had mounted a Mercedes star on a magnet. He stuck it on the hood of the rustiest, most beat-up '50s model Chevrolet anyone could imagine and drove it around town. He said it made up for the poor condition of the car. My wife loved her '73 240D, and she would fuss every time she saw that students car which was in our neighborhood. ~ OK Don wrote: > It would ruin the it's already going 160 MPH while parked look of the SEC. > I do hate the star in the grill of the newer C and E class sedans - that > star is supposed to be reserved for SLs and coupes. Re: [MBZ] Hood star
W114 fits W114 W115 fits W115 So I have personally had in my stable two different 115's that use two different hood star assemblies. One has a large radiator-cap sized hole in the grille, and the other's was much smaller, similar to the newer cars'. I swapped grilles to put the spare hood star I had onto the Frankenheap, which was a Euro 200D, and had the large hole originally. (And which traveled with the parts car to its next owner.) Is it possible that one was really the 114? Or were there really two incompatible 115 star assemblies? -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Donald, you do have a point that hits me personally, even though the statistics of that election were a lot less likely to garner support from those who didn't vote for him than are the results of this election. By the time he actually won an election he had done so many things I could not support that it was pretty difficult then also. Your point is still valid though, and I did not support him willingly - nor did I actively seek to have him fail [as I see in some emails today.] I will say that I have more support for him today because of what I think are changes in his methods if not his policy. As I have said before, I will continue to feel that if he had gone into office more like he is today he would be able to leave office more like he entered it. Approval rates in the gutter might seem totally because of the economy, but I think also reflect the 'cowboy' attitude I saw in his early years. I think he has learned a lot from his years in office. Re: [MBZ] Hood star and the people that wear hoods
From my experience working with blacks professionally and having a son who is black, the use of the term within the racial group is quite different than the use of the term from outside the group. One is 'in the family' and the other is always an insult. Remember when Ted Danson used blackface to deliver what would have been Woopi Goldberg's routine to a black audience? It would have been funny if she had delivered it, but was offensive [and she didn't understand why] because he did it. I can call my brother a conservative redneck [he is] but anyone outside the family best be careful how they address one of the people I admire greatly for his personal character. I don't make the rules, I just call 'em as I see 'em. My apologies Kaleb and list. I had not noticed that this was to the MBZ group and not to Banned. I do need to check that before I respond to a political comment. The point is what others do is their business, I am saying that we are trying to build a 'friendly' list and derogatory comments and terms should not be part of this effort. You see it in the movies all the time, one African American calling another the N word but that does not mean it is now an acceptable thing to say in polite conversation. There's no way to tell for sure. When I was two, I got an early sample of the Sabin live culture polio vaccine. I got stomach flu and had some paralysis (mostly left leg) about a week later. I wasn't the only one who got sick after being immunized that day, but the neighbor's daughter (several years older than me) only had flu symptoms. OTOH, I'd already been vaccinated with the Salk stuff, so to get polio from the vaccine I'd have had to pick up no immunity from the Salk vaccine and then had the bad luck to get polio from the Sabin vaccine. I'm still very much against continued use of the Sabin vaccine, especially since even the CDC admits that the majority of the polio cases in the last 30 years are vaccine induced. There's not much natural poliomyelitis in the world today, and virtually none in the USA. I can't believe Thunderbird has 'poliomyelitis' in its spelling dictionary, but not 'Obama' or even 'Osama'. Also this is not the first time this sort of thing has come from this individual and he was asked to not use those racial slurs, as it offends and drags the other listers down with him in some respect. It makes us look like a bunch of backwater racists who drive Mercs because Hitler was chauffeured around in them. Further that post can be interpreted as an incitement to murder the President elect, which may well be an illegal act. I strongly suggest that you lay down some rules in this regard before it gets out of control. I do not have a problem with people saying they do not like the President elect because of his policies but when it is racist based, it becomes another thing altogether. I dare say there are plenty of place s on the internet where racists can have a chat, like that stormfront forum. I don't have a problem if people say they think Obama is stupid, as was often the case with dubya but his African background should not even come into it. He could not choose his heritage anymore than anyone else, it's like another lister attacking Roosevelt's disability, did FDR want to have polio? I am not saying being of a different skin color is a disability but rather trying to say we are what we are, some things we can choose and some we can't. Re: [MBZ] Hood star and the people that wear hoods
i'm more sure that it isn't polio than anything else. my issue is that everyone makes this polio claim. if you go to hyde park, all they do is talk about his polio. obviously, he suffered from a disabling malady, but to just keep repeated was polio doesn't seem right to me. on a side note, i went bowling today with the church. you'd think this to be a pretty safe activity, but my knees now are functioning particularly poorly after bowling 3 games. i remember when the local bowling center back in queens in the early 80s would have $1 games during weekdays and i'd bowl 15 to 25 games in a day with no ill effect whatever. guess a quarter century of abuse can do that to a fella.
