They have poor aesthetics, the manufacturers steal/copy technology from more
serious European marks such as Mercedes, they copy designs from European and
American cars but execute them poorly and they decimated the American car
market.

Why are you down on Japanese cars, Dimitri? They are just another foreign car.

One day I may drop an om648 into the 123. Ideally a rust free older gwagen
though.

No one here buys any of the newer high end cars. They are all leased. If
you buy it you pay 10% use tax up front and no one driving such cars wants
to keep a new car long enough to recover that money, plus no one wants to
bother with any serious maintenance, and they all start to get flakey

Hence the Subaru we just bought. If our mission was just running into town,
it would have been a Spark or similar, but it also needs to be able to
drive us to the Grandkids in Boston when we have to get there and the
weather is too bad to fly.

If I did get an electric I would also purchase additional solar panels plus
a Tesla battery to match up so I could recharge at night.

Sadly I need to drive it for a few months until I can get the SD into a very
reliable condition. Nothing great, just make sure suspension is right. No big
leaks, or little ones. Wires doing what they should, windows working well
enough, ignition, lighting, some paint.

After more than five weeks, I picked up the S430 from the shop. It was there

part to Beckmann in NC was $900. But, that takes time for them to get it on
the bench and made good.
