Definitely, I would do this first. At least at that point you know where you
stand with them. After our dry anal rape by State Farm after 30 years of
business I don’t think most of these companies give a tinker’s damn about

I would try to get some local references to agencies that represent multiple
companies. Don't follow those where there is a potential conflict of interest
(such as when your mortgage lender tries to push you to their preferred
insurer, I tried that once and it was a disaster).
